Pyrmont Uncorks Mudgee at the Pyrmont Festival of Food, Wine and Art

A sparkling sunny day at Pyrmont’s foreshore at Pirrama Park, the former base of the NSW Water Police, was a perfect setting for the first Pyrmont Festival of Food, Wine and Art on Sunday May 25.

The theme of the event conducted by the Pyrmont Ultimo Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the City of Sydney was “Pyrmont Uncorks Mudgee” and Sydneysiders were able to taste a wide selection of the Mudgee region’s finest wines as well as foods.

For the first time the annual Pyrmont Art Festival was combined with other activities to provide an experience for all ages. The art exhibition featured over 300 pieces created by local artists. A panel of judges awarded $10,000 worth of prizes for winners of various sections of the competition, including peoples’ choices voted on by people attending the Festival.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP opened the Festival. “There are so many artworks here. I encourage everyone to support the local artists as they are truly talented”, she said.

Pyrmont Community® Bank Branch participated with an information stall and contributed $300 for the Bendigo Bank art prize and a further $700 toward the organisation of the event.
